The Just In-Case File

If you died tomorrow, could they find it?

Everything your family would need, written down in one place.

You've done the hard part. But could they find any of it?

You've sorted the things people are supposed to sort. The will. The insurance. The breakdown of your super. Almost all of it still lives in your head, your inbox, or a folder only you know about.

Writing it down doesn't make anything more likely. It only changes what that week is like for the people you love.

The Just In-Case File open on a laptop, with the printed cover and a memo of wishes page beside it

Why this exists

I've been the person doing the searching

In 2020 I was 29 years old and 17 weeks pregnant with triplets when my husband died suddenly in an accident.

I knew our finances. I knew where the will was. And I still spent hours, night after night, piecing our life together at the worst possible time.

Nobody could have done that work for me. But somebody could have made it lighter. So I built the file I needed, and then I built Yellow Falcon™ around it.

The part everyone else skips

Most planners get filled in. Then put somewhere safe.

Safe usually means nobody can find it. A file your family can't reach on the day they need it is the same as no file at all. The file gives you the prompts to make sure it actually gets found.

Step one

Pick the person who'll open it

Step two

Tell them it exists

Step three

Watch them find it, once

No other planner asks you to do this. It's the difference between a document you filled in and a file your family can actually use.

A map, not a vault

Three things this file will never ask of you

You never write a password in it

It records where things are, not what unlocks them. A bank name and the last four digits is plenty.

We never see your copy

We don't store it, host it or read it. It's yours, kept wherever you decide.

You don't need to be good with technology

If you can type into a PDF, you can do this. If you'd rather write by hand, order the print version.

The price

Once. Yours to keep and update forever.

$147

  • All 37 sections, the admin and the heart
  • Fill it in on screen, or print it at home
  • Every future update, at no extra cost

Questions

The things people ask first

What do I actually get?
The choice is yours. The digital file is a fillable PDF, emailed within a minute of paying, and you type straight into it on a Mac, PC, iPad or phone. The printed edition is professionally printed and posted to you, so you can write by hand, and the digital file comes with it.
Isn't this morbid?
Nothing in it makes anything more likely. All it does is make things easier for the people you love, after you've gone. Most people find it far less confronting than they expected.
Is this a will?
No, and it doesn't replace one. It's how your family find everything, including the will. It sits alongside your legal documents, it doesn't stand in for them.
How long does it take?
One section at a time, at whatever pace suits you.
What if things change?
Things change. Open the file, type over the old answer and save it again. Set a reminder to review it each year and make any updates.
Is it Australian?
Yes. Australian banks, super funds, insurers, Centrelink and estate paperwork.
What if my partner needs one?
Your purchase covers your household, so you and your partner can each keep your own copy. If you'd like to put it in someone else's hands, a parent, a sibling, a friend, send them this page and they'll get their own.

Not ready yet? Start with the free check: Could They Find It?

The Just In-Case File is general information only. It is not legal, financial or medical advice, and it does not replace a will, a power of attorney, an advance care directive or any other legal document. For those, speak to a solicitor or a licensed adviser.

Do it now, while it's just paperwork.

You don't have to finish it this week. You just have to start it. Then the people you love are never left untangling it alone.
